just created this as a top-level item in our tracker, anticipating we will create children of this for specific work items different teams need to pick up. This top-level item should capture the goals, design, “done”, and sub-tasks to get E2E tracing implemented. Need a DRI to own this.

DESIGN

Why we’re doing this (goals)

• We should be able to trace the lifecycle of a Bifrost end-user request all the way from Bifrost to Lassie
• This will help us reason about correctness and performance

What we’re doing (what does it mean to be “done”?)

• DONE means that response passed back to bifrost-gateway has headers with timings and other metadata from all the components involved in the request
