Goals
Align incentives among stakeholders involved in the retrieval flow to make sure that discoverable content is being delivered from the Filecoin network to the user or system requesting this content
- Improve confidence in retrievals reliability (i.e., it is possible to retrieve content) internally and in the ecosystem
- Improve Retrieval Success Rates across the network
- Derive value from the content stored on Filecoin
- Empower Filecoin storage use cases that are not just to store data and never have to retrieve it (as evidenced by this analysis)
- Improve observability and reliability of retrieval success metrics by collecting and exposing retrieval metrics
- Establish and scale retrieval metrics data collection across Filecoin network
Out of scope
- Retrieval latency improvements
- Reliability of data transfer
- Content discovery
Retrieval OKRs
- Number of Golden Retrievers (SPs that “adequately” serve retrievals):
- Retrieval Deal Success Rate: 95%+
- Minimum Retrieval Deal Volume: 5
- Maximum TTFB: 5s
- Minimum Transfer Speed: 1MB/s
- Overall retrieval success in the network
Retrieval Incentives Hypotheses
Hypothesis 1: Monetary reward will incentivize SPs to serve retrievals
- Experiment: Golden Retriever
- Metric of success: Number of qualifying SPs increases over time
- Expected outcome: Number increases by ~10%
- Timeframe: 8 weeks
Hypothesis 2: General reputation incentivizes SPs to serve retrievals
- Experiments:
- Golden Retriever
